The Oracle Networking class describes and allows delegates to practice with the range of Oracle client/server networking features.
The class consists of a mixture of lecture and hands on lab exercises.
Who Should Attend
This class is intended for analysts, junior developers, designers, beginning administrators and managers new to Oracle8i or database programming.
Prerequisites
A grounding in relational database concepts; familiarity with the use of graphical user interfaces.
Content
- Networking overview : history, Oracle networking (SQL*Net, Net8, Oracle*Net), features, client server systems, protocols, supported products.
- Client/server connections : naming methods, host naming, local naming, Oracle*Names, LDAP.
- Connection mechanisms : two-task architecture, listener management and configuration, single-task architecture, multi-threaded server.
- Networking utilities : Connection Manager, Net Manager, Net Configuration Assistant.
- Enterprise Manager networking : Oracle Management Server, configuring and loading OMS repositories.
- Oracle Agent : Agent overview, using Agent with jobs, Agent management.
