Associate Lecturer, Open University, Milton Keynes, Bucks.

My duties include both online and face-to-face work with students on these undergraduate courses, together with grading and assessing periodic assignments. I have regular contact with both my student groups and my associate lecturer peers; working with the OU is technically rewarding and personally satisfying, as well as assisting me to keep up to date with the theoretical aspects of the topics that I teach professionally.

1998 - June 2002

Oracle instructor and developer, Thinkspark LLP, Dallas Tx.

At ThinkSpark, I presented a wide range of Oracle Corporation certified DBA classes covering versions 7, 8, 8i and 9i. The classes included Introduction to SQL and PL/SQL, Database Architecture & Administration, Backup & Recovery, Performance Tuning, Networking, Java Programming, Java and Database Access (total 32 classroom days).

As an instructor, I travelled extensively to locations across the US and the UK. Copies of post class evaluations are available on request.

During my employment with ThinkSpark, I was also responsible for sundry development projects, including a web based course reservation system and instructor scheduling system (Java, JSP and servlet technologies running on an Oracle 9i database).

1987 - 1998

Technical Director & Founder, SkillAdvance LLC., Finchley, London N12. UK

SkillAdvance was set up by two partners, and myself, to offer vendor independent technical training. I developed and then presented the majority of the training classes offered, including UNIX (User and SysAdmin), Informix (4GL, SQL, DBA), Oracle (SQL*Forms, SQL*Reports, SQL*Menu, DBA), Unify (Accell, DBA), Visual Basic (to version 5), Microsoft Access, and several customised classes for sundry organisations (manufacturers and software authors).

Classes were delivered in our North London training centre, as well as at client locations in the UK, Europe (Holland, Norway, Luxembourg) and Asia (Bangkok, Thailand and Madras, India).

The company also held several software sales agencies, for development and reporting tools to work with multiple RDBMS products (SuperNOVA and Intelligent Query). SkillAdvance became profitable during their second year of operation, with billings in excess of £750,000.

1981 - 1987

Software Manager / Strategic Product Manager, Star Computers PLC, Watford. UK

As Software Manager, I managed a team of 12 developers working on packaged software for accounting practices. My team instigated UK changes to our Australian software products.
